Virtually every human needs touch, and seniors are no exception. While touch can help to relieve some of the aches, illnesses, and isolation that many seniors experience, it is often lacking in a senior’s life. The Hands On program provides therapeutic massage and friendly visits to seniors who cannot easily leave home. It offers seniors a way to lessen pain, enhance wellness, and increase social contact. And, it helps families keep in contact with seniors who live here when they live elsewhere. Touch Therapy Center developed the The Hands On program in conjunction with Senior Care Consultants, a Knoxville firm specializing in services to seniors. Hands On includes an initial evaluation by Senior Care Consultants to assess general health, family concerns, Hands On goals, and scheduling. The cost is $50.00. After evaluation, Hands On therapeutic massage visits, which are approximately one-half hour, take place where the senior lives. They can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or once a month. Each visit is $50.00. Follow-up evaluations are scheduled by Senior Care Consultants as needed, but no less than once a year.
